November - CFRW Second Saturday Cleanup

This month's clean up will take place in Burnt Mill Creek at the end of Shirley Road. We will be partnering with Cape Fear River Watch, the Coastal Conservation Association and Sweetwater Brewing!

 

We will be sweeping Burnt Mill Creek from Princess St to Archie Blue Park. Multiple kayaks and canoes will be provided to those who'd like to boat. Dress appropriately! As always, gloves, pickers, bags, and buckets will be provided. Please bring a reusable cup for coffee courtesy of Lucky Joe Coffee House. 

 

Following the clean up, a volunteer party will be hosted by Sweetwater Brewing at the Pour Taproom! Raffle prizes and giveaways will be provided by Sweetwater. A portion of proceeds from the day’s sales will go to Cape Fear River Watch and the Coastal Conservation Association. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Pour Taproom. Be ready to have some fun!  A big thanks to all volunteers for an amazing year and for keeping our waterways clean.

Straws Film for Schools - North Carolina Impact Campaign

Keep New Hanover County Beautiful is excited to announce that we are sponsoring Straws in Schools! 

 

This program will be traveling to schools all across North Carolina's coastal counties, educating students on the realities of plastic pollution by showing the award winning documentary, STRAWS. Click HERE for more information on this campaign and to view a trailer of the film.

September - International Coastal Cleanup!

Every year KNHB participates with Cape Fear River Watch and other local organizations in the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup. A worldwide effort to Fight for Trash Free Seas and clean up our community beaches. This year there are 8 cleanup locations around Wilmington, for more information on site locations and captains please follow this LINK.

This event will end at Waterline Brewing for a nice cold beer!

As always, please bring water and wear appropriate clothing for your site selection, its still hot out there!

August - CFRW Second Saturday Cleanup

We hope to see you at this month's clean up event!

 

August’s clean up will take place on a tributary of Greenfield Lake, off of Medical Center Drive. Emphasis will be placed on wetland areas and the creek itself.

Please wear appropriate clothing (long pants, hats, boots, etc). Water and iced coffee will be provided, bring a reusable cup for the coffee! As always, gloves, pickers, bags, and buckets will be provided. 

 

Parking available off of Silver Stream Dr near the Children's Learning Center.

Please joins us for this months's Second Saturday Cleanup!

June’s clean up event will once again take place in the town of Leland. We will be sweeping a lot adjacent to Sturgeon Creek. This lot is set to be the site of a new park in Leland with water access and a potential disc golf course!

 

Please wear appropriate clothing. Pickers, gloves, bags, buckets and water will be provided! 

Parking available on site. Look for signs!
