About The Event
Welcome to the 2022 version of Keep New Hanover Beautiful's CleanUp GreenUp event. This event is made possible by a generous funding from the UPS/ Keep America Beautiful Community Grant. We have procured close to $10,000 of native trees, shrubs and bushes. Meet us at Bellevue Cemetery at 9AM for a kickoff meeting and greeting.
Volunteers interested in the cleanup portion specifically will then need to make their way over to Rankin St (navigate to 13th and Rankin). Parking will be available along the street. We will be focusing on McCumbers Ditch as well as the easement area that runs alongside it. The tide should be approaching low while we are out there so if you have waders or muck boots, those would be much appreciated. We will provide pickers, gloves, safety vests, and bags.
Register with us using the link below:
CleanUp: In addition to the various plantings, we will be doing a cleanup alongside the Cape Fear River Watch Second Saturday CleanUp initiative as well as removal of invasive species.
GreenUp: Our primary planting destination will be at Bellevue Cemetery off of Princess Place Dr. The cemetery is still trying to recover after losing some 150 trees during Hurricane Florence.
Please bring your own gloves and water (we encourage the use of reusable containers).
